Archdiocesan Safe Environment Program and Protecting God's Children
MANDATORY SAFE ENVIRONMENT COMPLIANCE
Any adult who wants to volunteer in parish activities or ministries that include children must be in full compliance with the Safe Environment Program of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Compliance requires attendance at a Protecting God’s Children workshop, a signed Code of Ethical Conduct and submitting to a background check which will be updated in even numbered years.
Anyone working or volunteering with or around children at Our Lady of Lourdes needs to complete the following:
- Attend a Protecting God's Children workshop (click the link to be directed to the list of available workshops).
- Submit a form for a background check along with a copy of your social security card (bring this to the workshop). If you do not have a copy, please obtain one from the social security office.
- Sign the Code of Ethical Conduct form
If you have taken these steps at another Parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis please contact either Meg Turpin or Julie King. Use the Authorization to Transfer Information Form to request a transfer of your documents to OLOL.
BACKGROUND CHECKS RERUN THIS YEAR
2012 is a background check year and we will begin requesting current background checks for those who are active with children in our parish. If you are no longer serving children in any capacity, please let Meg Turpin at 726.6200 or meg.turpin@ucitylourdes.org know. We will delete your information from the background check request.
If you are still serving children in our parish, we will be requesting a current background check for you. You will also receive a copy by mail from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. We will be receiving our own copy so you will not need to submit your copy to the parish. If you have moved in the last two years, please contact the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry to update your address. The number to reach an FCSR operator is 1-866-422-6872.
For further information and coordination of these requirements, please call the Child Safety Coordinator, Meg Turpin, or the Parish Secretary, Julie King at 726-6200.
