Baptisms are by appointment and usually take place following the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday. Other times may be arranged at the deiscretion of the Pastor. Parents need to attend a Baptism preparation class before the baptism of their child. Required attendance of the class is needed only once. Please call the rectory to register for the class and make the arrangements. Currently, Baptism preparation classes are held on the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. in the Parish Center.
Confessions are heard in the Church’s reconciliation room from 4:00 to 4:50 p.m. on Saturdays. Please contact the rectory for an appointment at any other time. Parish-wide Penance Services are held during Advent and Lent.
For children in second grade, First Communion is usually celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. For children not in OLOL school, an agreement has been established with St. Joseph's Church in Clayton who offers a PSR program. You may contact St. Joseph's directly to inquire about their program or contact our rectory. Click here to visit St. Joseph's Parish website.
Young people usually receive Confirmation in the eighth grade. Students in OLOL school are prepared as a part of their religion studies. Those in other schools attend weekly classes held at the parish prior to the ceremony. Students in the eighth grade at schools other than Our Lady of Lourdes who wish to be confirmed are asked to please register by calling the rectory.
For weddings at Our Lady of Lourdes
DURING CONSTRUCTION NO WEDDINGS WILL BE SCHEDULED THROUGH DECEMBER OF 2018.
Current parishioners and their children are welcome to be married in our parish church. A parishioner is someone who has been registered in the parish for six months, actively participating in the Sacramental life of the parish and supporting the mission of Our Lady of Lourdes. Please note the Archdiocese of St. Louis requires a six-month period of preparation prior to the wedding.
Those who have no intention of becoming parishioners may also be married at Lourdes. We ask that you invite a priest or deacon of your choosing to prepare you and to officiate your wedding. Your priest or deacon will complete all of the necessary paperwork and will assist you with planning your wedding ceremony in conjunction with the guidelines of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Non-Parishioner weddings can be scheduled no sooner than one year in advance, and there will be no more than one non-parishioner wedding scheduled on any Saturday. Cost: $1,000 (please note: a $500 deposit is necessary to hold the date)
For weddings elsewhere
Members of the parish desiring to be married elsewhere are encouraged to obtain preliminary information about the location and the priest who will officiate. One of our parish priests can assist in preparing the couple and completing the paperwork.
If you are awaiting the decision of the Marriage Tribunal regarding a possible annulment, please wait until you have received your final papers. Parishioners desiring information about an annulment are urged to contact one of our parish priests.
Our parish welcomes those interested in joining the Catholic faith by inviting them to participate in the RCIA program (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). This program usually begins in October and reception into the Church takes place during the Easter Vigil.
Parishioners who are unable to attend Mass but wish to receive communion are urged to call the rectory and arrange for the Holy Eucharist to be brought to them at home.
Anointing of the Sick
Parishioners can call the rectory to request this sacrament. Reception of this sacrament should not be viewed as only for those in immediate danger of death. Group or communal anointings, which are periodically scheduled, are announced in the bulletin.
Funerals or Memorial Masses can be arranged through the funeral home of your choice or by calling the rectory directly.
